It is a noble and adaptable grass with excellent forage quality. Moisture resistant and ideal for the use of soils with a tendency to pool, being perfect to improve milk and meat production.
CAYMAN® grass is the third hybrid offered for sale by Grupo Papalotla, from a generation of hybrids developed by the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), evaluated and selected by the Tropical Pasture Research Center (CIPAT), which is the research center where Grupo Papalotla keeps constantly evaluating a large number of Brachiarias hybrids.
The Grupo Papalotla team of researchers carried out evaluations for periods greater than 30 days of frank humidity, in a large number of forages, including those in the market (for example Humidícola, Toledo, Marandú, Piatá and Mulato II).
While some began to deteriorate after 10 days, dying long before the evaluation period, Cayman grass survived. In the end it was only surpassed by the Humidícola Brachiaria, which we all know its ability in moist soils, but we also know of its low nutritional quality, production and difficulty in establishing, compared to Cayman grass.
The growth of Cayman grass is tufted, also produces a large number of stolons; likewise, in the presence of moisture it modifies its growth habit and at an early age it develops a large number of decumbent stems, which produce children and roots in the knots; These adventitious roots provide support, nutrient absorption and provide oxygen to the plant in these adverse conditions of poor drainage.
